HISTORY
Congregation Caritas Sisters of Jesus was born, on 15 August 1937, Salesian Missionaries Fr. Antonio Cavoli(SDB), and Co-founder Venerable Mons. Vincenzo Cimatti(SDB), in Japan.
Our two founders arrived in Japan in 1926 with seven brothers and began their missionary work, centered around the Miyazaki Church. In 1937, in obedience to the wish of Pop Pius XI, Who encouraged the establishment of indigenous religious congregations in the mission territories, they founded the Caritas Sisters. In 1937, they Received a special Papal blessing from the Pope for the Caritas Sisters of Jesus. In 1986, the congregation was officially recognized as the 11th religious institute of the Salesian Family of Don Bosco.
We are now in 16 countries with more than 900 sisters all over the world.
SPIRITUALITY
Caritas Sisters of Jesus are apostles of the Sacred of Jesus, gathered to live out the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus-who loved humanity even unto death on the cross-in all people, especially the poor and suffering.
Our Charism is based on the compassionate love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, just as Jesus showed mercy to his people during His time on earth, especially to those who were suffering. We also imitate Jesus and show mercy and share our love to the people with the same heart.
